Cleaning Tip #9 - Get Wax Spills Out!

You had those candles out for atmosphere, and they got knocked over. Ahhhh! You can get it out quickly and easily!

As always, make sure the fabric can be ironed. If not, this method won't work.

If you spill wax on a place mat, tablecloth, table runner, or even carpet, you can use this method to get it out!

Hello, today I wanted to show you how to take wax off of placemats. You can also apply this to carpet or table runners or table clothes as well.

First you need some paper bags. Now if it's got writing on it, that's fine. We'll just have to be careful about that, not to put the writing face down. You want to keep the writing up. The only other thing that you'll need is an iron.

One thing that may come in handy is a little razor blade, but for our demonstration today we won't necessarily need to use that.

So what we do is if we spill some wax on the placemat, we get our paper bag, put it down, and we plug our iron in. We don't want water in the iron.

We put the paper bag down with the writing up and we put the iron on top of the paper bag. You can kind of rub it back and forth a little bit. And then you can remove your iron and actually move the bag back and forth on the spot. And that will get a lot of the wax up.

Now if you need to, you can use your razor blade and scrape it a little bit and that will help break up the wax if it's bigger chunks. And if it's smaller chunks, you kind of just keep using the paper bag, and you'll see it soaking up into that paper bag. And then you'll keep using that iron and warming it up.

You don't want to leave the iron in one spot for too long, especially if you're doing it on something like carpet.

But you never want to let your iron touch the carpet or the placemat, because it might melt it or do something funky to it.

Now if you have any questions, just leave them in the comments below and we appreciate you coming today.
